A practical dictionary for Pattern Horizon lifecycle states, zone states, actions, and directions—including FORMING, AWAITING_CONFIRMATION, CONFIRMED, TARGET_REACHED, FAILED, TOUCHING, REJECTED, and BROKEN.

Pattern Horizon signal status dictionary
A signal is not a permanent BUY or SELL label. It is a structured observation that can advance, wait, complete, fail, expire, or become unclear as new market data arrives. This dictionary explains the most important Status, Action, and Direction terms shown on the website, Telegram, and Discord—and the distinctions that prevent one field from being mistaken for another.
Three labels, three jobs
Status, Action, and Direction answer different questions
Status records the setup’s current lifecycle or interaction condition. It answers: what has the system observed so far? Action is a plain-language reading prompt generated from the group, state, and conflict context. It answers: what should the user watch next? Direction summarizes the current orientation as BULLISH, BEARISH, NEUTRAL, or UNCLEAR. It answers: what directional interpretation is presently attached to the signal?
These fields should not be collapsed. AWAITING_CONFIRMATION is a Status, WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION is its Action, and NEUTRAL can be its Direction when a decisive breakout has not been recorded. TARGET_REACHED is both a lifecycle result and a corresponding action label, but it still does not instruct the user to enter a completed move. FAILED closes a previous hypothesis; it does not automatically create a confirmed setup in the opposite direction.
Always start with symbol, timeframe, and signal group. Pattern states and support/resistance zone states use different vocabularies because they describe different structures.
Pattern lifecycle: early stages
CANDIDATE, FORMING, and AWAITING_CONFIRMATION
CANDIDATE means the system has identified enough preliminary structure to track a possible pattern, but the setup is not complete or confirmed. It belongs on a watchlist, not in the results column.
FORMING means recognizable components are developing under the pattern’s rules. Remaining pivots, geometry, ratios, or other conditions may still need to complete. The structure can improve, change, expire, or invalidate before confirmation. A high Quality score at this stage describes structural fit; it does not skip the lifecycle.
AWAITING_CONFIRMATION means the candidate has progressed to the point where a configured confirmation condition is now the central question. The message can show a Breakout level and advise waiting beyond it. Price being near that level, touching it, or briefly crossing it is not automatically the same as satisfying the configured condition. Read the current Status literally and do not relabel the setup in advance.
For all three states, Probability may say Not available yet. That is missing stage-appropriate data, not an implied 0%, 50%, or 100%.
Waiting is an explicit state
AWAITING_CONFIRMATION is not a delayed CONFIRMED signal
The illustrated message identifies an Elliott pattern with Action: WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION, Status: AWAITING_CONFIRMATION, and Direction: NEUTRAL. It also shows the current Price, Breakout level, Quality, Probability availability, and Invalidation. Those fields describe a monitored hypothesis and the evidence required next.
The Breakout level is not a promise that price will cross it. Invalidation marks the condition that ends the setup’s current interpretation. Quality assesses structure. Direction remains neutral because the message has not recorded the decisive event needed for a stronger directional state.
A disciplined reader preserves that uncertainty. The alert is useful because it identifies what to watch before the market decides; it does not require the user to anticipate confirmation.

CONFIRMED and BROKEN record evidence—not certainty
CONFIRMED means the configured confirmation condition for a pattern has been satisfied and recorded. The Action can become SETUP CONFIRMED, and Direction can reflect the realized breakout. Confirmation reduces uncertainty about whether the boundary event occurred; it does not remove uncertainty about follow-through, execution, or final outcome.
BROKEN is commonly associated with a support or resistance zone whose break condition has been met. For a support zone, a confirmed break can carry a bearish interpretation; for resistance, it can carry a bullish interpretation. The correct next question is whether price holds beyond the broken area or quickly re-enters it.
Do not use CONFIRMED and BROKEN as universal synonyms. One belongs to the lifecycle of a pattern setup and the other can describe a zone event. Both depend on their own structure, timeframe, and configured evidence. Read the relevant boundary, timestamp, target, and invalidation rather than relying only on the green or red headline color.
Pattern lifecycle: outcomes
TARGET_REACHED, FAILED, INVALIDATED, EXPIRED, and AMBIGUOUS
TARGET_REACHED means the primary tracked target has been reached under the signal lifecycle. It is a recorded outcome, not a new entry prompt. The message advises watching for continuation, consolidation, or a new setup instead of chasing the completed signal.
FAILED or INVALIDATED means the previous setup no longer satisfies its validity condition. The old hypothesis should be closed and a new structure awaited. These labels do not automatically prove that the opposite direction is now confirmed.
EXPIRED means the setup remained unresolved beyond the configured tracking window or other expiry condition. Expiry is different from failure: the market may simply not have delivered a valid confirmation or terminal result within the allowed period.
AMBIGUOUS means the available evidence does not support a clean state or directional conclusion. It belongs with caution and NO CLEAR EDGE, not with a forced forecast.
Terminal states are valuable because they preserve history. A transparent lifecycle includes unsuccessful and unresolved setups rather than showing only successful examples.
Two honest outcomes
TARGET_REACHED and FAILED must both remain visible
The illustrated Discord message shows a pattern whose primary target was recorded as reached. Its Quality, Direction, Breakout level, Target, and Invalidation remain visible so the result can be reviewed in context. A completed target does not prove a permanent edge, and users should not chase the historical move.
Pattern Horizon also preserves FAILED and INVALIDATED events. Together, these outcomes make the signal feed an evolving record rather than a collection of favorable screenshots. The correct unit of analysis is a defined sample of comparable signals with all outcomes included.
When reviewing any result, check symbol, timeframe, pattern family, confirmation, target rule, invalidation rule, and timestamps. One result explains a state transition; it cannot establish a win rate.
Read the Quality guideSupport and resistance states
APPROACHING, TOUCHING, IN_ZONE, PIERCED, REJECTED, and BROKEN
APPROACHING means price is near a tracked support or resistance area but has not yet meaningfully interacted with it. The appropriate focus is the upcoming reaction.
TOUCHING means price has reached the area or its interaction threshold. IN_ZONE means price is currently within the zone’s boundaries. Neither label confirms a bounce or a breakout.
PIERCED describes penetration into or through part of a zone without the stronger evidence required to label the zone broken. A wick or temporary excursion can therefore remain different from BROKEN.
REJECTED means price has moved away in a manner classified as rejection. A support rejection can carry a bullish Direction and a resistance rejection can carry a bearish Direction, but follow-through is still uncertain.
BROKEN means the configured break condition has been met. For support, the realized direction is generally bearish; for resistance, generally bullish. Continue to watch whether price holds beyond the zone or re-enters it.
Zone states describe interaction with an area, not an automatic personalized order.
Action dictionary
What the Action line is asking you to notice
Action summarizes the next reading task. It does not place a trade or choose risk for the user.
WAIT FOR REACTION
Price is interacting with a support or resistance zone; wait for rejection, a confirmed break, or another recorded response.
WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION
A candidate exists, but the configured boundary or confirmation condition has not yet been satisfied.
SETUP CONFIRMED
The confirmation event has been recorded. Continue monitoring follow-through, target, invalidation, and context.
WAIT / NO CLEAR EDGE
Conflict, ambiguity, expiry, or competing evidence prevents a clear directional summary.
SETUP INVALIDATED
The previous setup is no longer valid. Wait for a new structure rather than defending the old interpretation.
TARGET REACHED
The tracked primary target has been reached. Treat it as a completed outcome, not as a fresh entry signal.
Direction dictionary
BULLISH, BEARISH, NEUTRAL, and UNCLEAR
BULLISH indicates that the signal’s current directional interpretation points upward. BEARISH points downward. Depending on the signal group and lifecycle stage, Direction can reflect a classical pattern bias, a realized breakout, or a zone reaction. Read the Technical context to understand which source applies.
NEUTRAL means the signal does not currently carry an active bullish or bearish interpretation. It commonly appears while confirmation is pending or when the system is reporting structure without a realized direction.
UNCLEAR means competing context prevents a coherent directional edge. Support and resistance can overlap, or different timeframes can oppose one another. UNCLEAR is not a hidden prediction and should not be converted into whichever direction the user already prefers.
Direction is descriptive. It does not state expected return, probability of success, position size, or suitability for an individual account.
Read terminal states literally
FAILED ends the previous setup; it does not reverse it
The illustrated message shows an Elliott setup recorded as FAILED with Action: SETUP INVALIDATED. Its previous Direction remains part of the historical setup, while the guidance says to wait for a new structure before reassessing the market.
This distinction prevents a common mistake: treating a failed bullish setup as an automatic bearish entry, or a failed bearish setup as an automatic bullish entry. Invalidation answers whether the previous hypothesis remains valid. It does not establish all conditions for the opposite hypothesis.
A new setup may later appear in either direction, remain unclear, or not appear at all. Let the next detection and state transition provide new evidence.

Read identity, state, direction, levels, and context in sequence
First identify symbol, timeframe, and signal type. Second read Action and Status to locate the setup in its lifecycle. Third read Direction without assuming it is an instruction. Fourth compare current Price with the Breakout level, zone, Target, and Invalidation. Fifth read Quality and Probability only according to their labels. Sixth review What to watch next and Technical context for bias, alignment, validation, geometry, and multi-timeframe conflict. Finally, open the full analysis and history when the compact notification is not enough.
This order reduces three frequent errors: acting on Direction while ignoring an unconfirmed Status; treating Quality as a win probability; and continuing to use an old signal after FAILED, INVALIDATED, TARGET_REACHED, or EXPIRED.
